Francois Smith,  lecturer in the department Afrikaans and Dutch, German and French (UFS) and Anton Roodt, research fellow and former student of the department, were both nominated for  the kykNET-Rapport book prize as well as the Jan Rabie-Rapport book prize. Both books, ‘Weerlose meganika’ and ‘Die kleinste ramp denkbaar’ were published by Tafelberg publishers. The students in the structured MA program for creative writing in Afrikaans (UFS) are in very good hands.
