Research Support Workshops
The CGS offers workshops and seminars to enrich and empower postgraduate students and staff for research. The workshops are supplementary to research training taking place within academic programmes and are especially important for students who do not have the opportunity to attend formal capacity development programmes in their departments. The research capacity development programme offers training on academic writing, the latest research software, advanced methods in qualitative and quantitative research, ethics and intellectual property considerations in technology transfer, conducting literature reviews, and testing conceptual frameworks in different fields. The presenters are diverse and sourced from a wide range of disciplines and universities.
Live webinar sessions are made available to enable students and staff to be part of the workshop irrespective of whether they are in Cape Town, Gauteng, Lesotho, Zimbabwe or Namibia etc.
The Centre for Graduate Support is the only one of its kind in South Africa that offers research capacity development workshops in provinces and countries where UFS postgraduate students reside. The only requirement for attendance is registration with the university.
