Purpose of CSSSE

The CSSSE is designed to complement the CSSE and focuses on,
  • Staff perceptions of how students engage in different activities;
  • The importance that staff place on various areas of learning and development;
  • The nature and frequency of staff-student interactions; and
  • How staff organise their time, both in and out of class.

Why administer the CSSE?

The CSSE provides Further Education and Training colleges with data that can be used by the colleges to assess institutional practices and student behaviours that are strongly correlated with student learning and student retention, and that may be used for benchmarking, diagnostic or monitoring purposes.

Why should institutions participate?

The CSSSE provides valuable information on what staff think is important in teaching and learning, as well as information on how lecturers’ perspectives agree with those of students.

What the data from the CSSSE can be used for

  • Staff development programmes;
  • Assessment and improvement;
  • Institutional research; and
  • Curriculum reform.
