Who they are:
The Batlokwa Ba Mota Royal House is a traditional leadership lineage of the Batlokwa nation based in Tsheseng, Qwaqwa, in the Free State province of South Africa. They are led by Morena e Moholo (principal traditional leader) Montoeli Mota, preserving a distinct heritage that dates back generations in the region.

Services offered:
The Batlokwa Ba Mota Royal House shares a strong collaborative link with the UFS, particularly through its Qwaqwa Campus. As an active stakeholder, the royal house serves on governance boards such as the Afromontane Research Unit (ARU), giving researchers direct access to the community and ensuring that academic enquiry is grounded in indigenous knowledge. This partnership also supports ecological and community development projects, including landscape restoration in Qwaqwa. Through formalised agreements and memorandums of understanding, the Batlokwa Ba Mota and UFS collaborate on capacity‑building programmes such as financial management training for traditional leaders.
