The Boikhuco Old Age Home, also known as the Mangaung Society for the Care of the Aged (MSCA), is a registered non‑profit organisation in Bochabela, Bloemfontein. It provides affordable accommodation and frail care to elderly residents, ensuring dignity and support for older persons in need.
Services offered:
The UFS partners with Boikhuco through community engagement initiatives that integrate care with academic service learning. The Department of Physiotherapy conducts daily exercise groups and individual treatments for both active and frail residents, while students from the Faculty of The Humanities and Occupational Therapy contribute to upliftment projects. These collaborations embody engaged scholarship, combining professional training with compassionate service to enhance the well-being of elderly residents.
