Who they are:
The Soutpan community, located 40–50 km northwest of Bloemfontein, is steeped in salt‑mining history and archaeological significance. Today, it is actively engaged in strengthening local infrastructure and addressing social challenges through collaborative partnerships.
Services offered:
The UFS plays a key role in supporting community development initiatives in Soutpan. Programmes create opportunities for students in Drama and Theatre Arts, Social Work, and Psychology. These disciplines contribute to upliftment projects that combine creative expression, psychosocial support, and practical interventions, situating academic learning within the realities of rural community life.
