Belinda Makare is a PhD student at the International Studies Group, University of the Free State. Her research focuses on the evolution of soil conservation in Lesotho, 1938-2020. Belinda examines the relationship between agricultural regimes and soil conservation in Lesotho, exploring the communal initiatives versus state conservation policies. She also holds an MA in African Economic History Studies (2020) and a BA (Hons) in Economic History with a distinction (2018) from the University of Zimbabwe. Her broad research interests includes sustainable rural development, livelihoods and agrarian studies.
