When the youth takes charge ...

The Faculty of Humanities hosted their annual ‘Socially Responsible Learner’ prize-giving ceremony on October 16 at the Trevor Barlow Library in Heidedal.

Six learners from three secondary schools – Dr Blok, Petunia and Heatherdale – participated in the 2013 event. Their community service projects comprised of topics around road safety awareness for young children, reading clubs, homework centers and youth conversations on peer pressure. Each project is aimed at improving the lives of communities.

Starting off with the program of the day, the guest speaker, Dr Pravani Naidoo presented a brief lecture on Positive Psychology. During the session the learners were involved in some activities that challenged them to have a different perspective about their individual attributes.
