The Cricket Club was established in 1947. The first few years the club played its matches below the Khayalami residences which are today known as Grey College Windmill fields and in 1955 the club played in the 1st league. The Cricket Oval and cricket fields 1 and 2 where build in 1981 and the club moved to its new fields.

In 1969 Ewie Cronjé started at the University. One can say that Ewie’s passion and love for sport was really the start of the club and since his arrival the club developed from strength to strength with 6 fields being built over the years. In 1986 – 1989 the Cricket Oval was used to host all Free State representative matches.

Over the years the club has produced 11 Springbok/Protea players and u/19 SA players!
