The KovsieHockey club has taken a bold step to shift its philosophy from a performance- and value-driven approach to a hockey-for-all strategy. This new approach aims to impact the growth, performance, and awareness of KovsieHockey within the hockey fraternity in South Africa.  The shift towards a build, win, and experience approach allows KovsieHockey to intensify its presence in the broader hockey community.

The strategy aims to promote growth and create high-performance opportunities for talented hockey players within the UFS community. Additionally, it seeks to establish a sustainable integrated junior hockey programme that accommodates skills development, recreational and competitive hockey. This programme aims to attract young, talented hockey players – both locally and from outside – to the UFS hockey scene.

To succeed, a conscious emphasis is placed on the efficient and effective delivery of programmes and projects as part of asset development. This approach allows hockey management to address and overcome current capability, resource, and portfolio gaps, establishing a competitive and sustainable hockey environment.

Excellence
The UFS has nurtured talent that transcends campus borders, producing 27 national hockey players who have excelled on international stages. These athletes carry the pride of the UFS from local fields to global arenas.

KovsieHockey also proudly contributes to the Free State hockey teams that represent the province at various provincial tournaments.

Through these efforts, the club remains consistently successful and competitive, establishing itself as a well-organised and respected hockey organisation that continuously maximises results.

In the process, KovsieHockey creates an attitude of No ifs or buts … only results, creating a culture shift from: I get to deliver, to I deliver; I get. This has initiated the new approach of building, winning, and experiencing.

Facilities
The KovsieHockey programme benefits from two Olympic-standard astro fields. Floodlights enable night play, providing a stage where precision and passion converge. On the synthetic turf, goals are scored, rivalries are ignited, and dreams are realised.

"Sweat is the cologne of accomplishment.
