Elmien Viljoen recently brought home two medals from the SA Japan Karate Association (JKA) Nationals.

The Kovsie secured bronze and gold medals at the nationals.

Together with her teammates Elsabe le Roux and Charlene Stopforth, she won bronze in the senior women’s open kumite, and gold in the senior women’s team kumite. The nationals took place in Johannesburg from 17 to 18 May 2024.

“I am very satisfied with my results from the tournament. I couldn’t have asked for better results,” she said.

Earlier this year, Viljoen had a great start to her 2024 events when she participated in the Karate South Africa (KSA) senior/master’s and veteran nationals. In Cape Town, she won a bronze in the senior female kumite +68 kg and a bronze in the senior female team kumite.
