Congratulations are in order, as UFS athletes and officials have excelled and have been honoured and selected for their outstanding achievements.

Mthi Mthimkulu (4x400 m mixed relay/400 m), Miné de Klerk (shot-put), and Yolandi Stander(discus) have been named as athletes who will form part of the final South African team for the upcoming CAA 23rd African Senior Championships. The championships will take place from 21 to 26 June 2024 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

University Sport South Africa (USSA) celebrated its 30th anniversary on 25 May 2024 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Johannesburg.

Several Kovsie athletes have been recognised for their contribution to the USSA federation over the years since the structure was established.

Louzanne Coetzee and Xavier Adams received the Louis Nel Excellence Award and Kesa Molotsane was awarded the Sanele Madlala Excellence Award.

Jandré (Smiley) Nel has been selected for the USSA sevens rugby team that will participate in the FISU World University Championship Rugby Sevens. The Shimla scrum half helped the UFS win the Varsity Cup in 2024.

The FISU championships will take place in Aix-en-Provence, France, from 10 to 12 June 2024.
