UFS strip research

The UFS IP Policy governs the management and commercialisation of intellectual property created by staff and students in the course of their work or studies. The policy outlines the rights and responsibilities of creators and the university, and provides procedures for disclosing, protecting, and commercialising IP. The UFS encourages innovation and creativity while protecting valuable intellectual assets through adherence to the guidelines and principles of the IP Policy.

The UFS IP management team provides a range of services to assist staff and students in identifying, protecting, managing, and commercialising their intellectual property. These services include:

1. IP awareness and education: The team provides training and workshops on various IP topics to increase awareness and understanding among staff and students. Moreover, from time to time, videos are produced, and articles are written related to IP.

Articles

World Intellectual Property (IP) Day is celebrated every year on 26 April. The theme for 2023 is ‘Women and IP: Accelerating innovation and creativity’.

The university joined in the celebration and published articles on the amazing achievements of staff, student and alumni inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs.

 

2. IP assessment and evaluation: The team evaluates the commercial potential of inventions and works with creators to determine the best strategy for protection and commercialisation.

3. IP protection: The team assists with filing patent, trademark, and copyright applications, as well as registering other forms of IP.

4. IP commercialisation: The team works with creators to license or sell their IP to industry partners, negotiate agreements, and manage ongoing relationships.
