Road Safety Starts with You!

May 2025

As part of the University of the Free State’s #BSafe campaign, the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit within Protection Services held an impactful traffic awareness campaign at the Thakaneng Bridge on the Bloemfontein Campus on 21 April 2025.

The campaign focused on educating students and staff about the critical importance of road safety, both as pedestrians and drivers.

Educational efforts on the day included

  • guidance on how to navigate campus roads safely;
  • insight into common traffic infringements and how to avoid them;
  • conversations about the role of individual behaviour in preventing accidents; and
  • accessible information on how to engage with traffic law processes.

The event was strengthened by the presence of external stakeholders, such as transport regulation officers from the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport, the Road Traffic Infringement Agency, and others who contributed valuable knowledge and resources to reinforce the message.

Let us keep our campus and roads safe together.
