At the UFS, we prioritise smooth and secure access to our campuses. Whether you are a student, staff member, or visitor, access is designed to ensure convenience without compromising safety. Familiarising yourself with the operating hours and procedures will help make your campus visits hassle-free. Here is everything you need to know:

The UFS has five gates to regulate access to the Bloemfontein Campus:

  • Main Gate (Nelson Mandela Drive):
    • Open 24/7 for all incoming and outgoing traffic, seven days a week.
  • Wynand Mouton Gate:
    • Open 24/7 for all incoming and outgoing traffic, seven days a week.
  • DF Malherbe Gate (Agriculture):
    • Open 24/7 for all incoming and outgoing traffic, seven days a week.
  • Roosmaryn Gate:
    • Open Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 18:00.
    • Closed on weekends and public holidays.
  • Furstenburg Road Gate:
    • Open Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 18:00.
    • Closed on weekends and public holidays.

UFS access management for visitors and contractors

Visitors and contractors must use the DF Malherbe Gate (Gate 5) to access the Bloemfontein Campus. They are required to register at the Visitors Centre, where they will be issued a temporary access card.

Visitors Centre hours:

  • Open Monday to Friday: 07:45 to 16:30.
  • Closed on weekends and public holidays.

The UFS has one gate to regulate access to the Qwaqwa Campus. This gate is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all incoming and outgoing traffic. Both staff and students as well as visitors and contractors need to access the campus through this gate.
