The UFS continues to improve the safety of students off campus. To this end, a new service provider has been appointed for the Bloemfontein and South campuses, with operations starting on 1 June 2025. The service includes enhanced security patrols and an armed response service for students between their off-campus residences and the campuses. It is active in the following areas:

• Bloemfontein Campus – Universitas, Brandwag, Park West, and Willows suburbs.
• South Campus – Kagisanong and Bloemanda suburbs, with the focus on the routes frequented by students (M30/N6, Oliver Tambo Road, DM Selemela Street, David Montoedi Street, Piet Human Street).

The service on the Qwaqwa Campus continues as normal, focusing on routes frequented by students (R57, Mota Road, R712) and areas within a 10 km (ten kilometre) radius of the campus.

The service is expanding, with more vehicles being deployed in Bloemfontein to enhance visibility.
