Second Instrument

Candidates intending to offer Singing as a second instrument, even if they have had no tuition, should likewise prepare two contrasting vocal pieces for their audition.

Candidates should inform the Odeion School of Music if they are presenting pieces in a second instrument, so that the applicable lecturer(s) can be present at their auditions.

Technical work

Candidates should also prepare to be evaluated on instrument-specific technical materials such as scales or a study, and should bring a list of prepared scales or studies with them to the audition for that purpose.

Aural and sight-reading skills

Aural and sight-reading tests at the appropriate level will be conducted during the audition.

Finally, candidates should complete the OSM selection form before their audition. It may be brought to the audition or sent ahead to the reception office. Ms Luzanne Eigelaar and Mr Eljee du Plooy are also the contact persons for scheduling individual auditions (+27 51 401 2810) or osm@ufs.ac.za.
