SCOPE OF INFORMATION


Short Description of the SLP: This programme is designed to introduce entry-level managers to the fundamentals of management and leadership. It develops basic knowledge and competencies of individuals that are new to a managerial work situation. The programme has a specific focus on the development of an individual’s ability to understand the dynamics of management and leadership, as well as how to develop self-management techniques and understand oneself in relation to others in the business environment.
Admission Requirements:
Admission requirements of the SLP:
• Be at least 22 years old
• At least grade 10
• Have at least 2 years workplace responsibilities
• Submit a manager/supervisor recommendation
• Submit a short application letter, expressing the desire to enrol for the programme

Preconditions: 
• Access to internet and a computer (not only a smart phone)
• Participants in this programme must take responsibility for their own learning process and progress in the programme.

Nature of Programme: Competence
Programme Structure: The programme applies a resource-based teaching and learning strategy. An experiential learning strategy is applied where the knowledge gained in the programme are applied in their immediate work environment. Synchronous and asynchronous and self-paced, weekly learning journeys, supported by a facilitator, and complimented by a weekly 90min virtual classroom session. The programme starts with an online orientation programme of which the purpose is to introduce the participants to the methodology and approach of the learner management system (LMS)
Assessments:
The programme strongly focussed on the participant’s ability to apply what they have learned on the programme in their immediate work environment.
Assessment of the programme are structured as follows:
a) Formative assessment (60%)
- Individual and group assessments.
- A reflection journal to diarise personal insights and learnings.
b) Summative Assessment (40%)
- Integrative final Assessment.
