1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The requirements as presented in 1.4 under General Information in this Rule Book apply. In addition to these general requirements, students who do not have an honors degree in Afrikaans and Dutch will be required to offer an honors module of 32 credits concurrent with the Creative MA, which is relevant to the specialization of the student and discussed with the head of the department.
The credits of the honors module will not count towards the MA qualification. The choice of the 32-credit module can be made from the following modules: AFNL 6808 (32 credits) or AFNM 6808 (32 credits) or AFNJ 6814 (16 credits) and AFNK6824 (16 credits).
2. CURRICULUM
Students may choose one of two options:
Option 1: Structured Creative Master's degree (All modules are compulsory) (Academic Plan Code: BC170012)
Note:
- (i) The structured programme is only presented over two years. Therefore, students are only permitted to register for this structured course for the first time every two years.
- (ii) Modules AFNA7910 and AFNB7920 are presented consecutively in the first year of study.
- (iii) The mini-dissertation (AFNM7900) must be completed over the course of the rest of the second year of study, under the guidance of a promoter appointed by the head of department, and on a theme as agreed upon by the promoter and student.
- (iv) All modules are considered to be core modules, and are compulsory but students register for only AFNA 7910 and AFNB 7920 in their first year of study, and only register for AFNM 7900 in their second year of study.
