What is it? The UFS Learning and Teaching Fellowship is a programme that supports and develops academic staff as scholars in learning and teaching.
Why is it important? The Fellowship aims to:
- Advance scholarly teaching and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) institutionally;
- Enhance the quality of our L&T through scholarship;
- Enable fellows to provide evidence of innovation in learning and teaching;
- Increase research outputs in disciplinary learning and teaching; and
- Create a pipeline of academics for national fellowships, such as the TAU fellowship.
How is it implemented? The UFS Fellowship is a two-year programme and comprises two tracks: Emerging Learning and Teaching Scholars and Advanced Learning and Teaching Scholars. This distinction facilitates the simultaneous development of scholarly teaching and SoTL at UFS. Participants attend face-to-face retreats and sessions where they share their research on L&T ideas and receive support from L&T specialists to advance their projects using sound research methodologies.
