Academic Staff and Leadership Development

Line

What is it? The Academic Staff and Leadership Development (ASLD) unit at CTL supports the continuous professional growth of academic staff and academic leaders. The unit also supports new academic staff in their transition to the UFS, promotes the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and capacitates academic leaders to lead teams, manage change, and make informed strategic decisions at the UFS.

Why is it important? It enables academic staff to respond to priorities such as graduate attributes, academic innovation, and digital transformation, while enhancing student learning and success. It also supports institutional strategies and teaching quality. Ultimately, we try to contribute to improved student achievement and a stronger institutional culture of learning and teaching.

How is it implemented? We provide a combination of professional learning opportunities, support, and collaborative initiatives. This may include workshops, short courses, mentoring, communities of practice, curriculum development support, digital learning training, and one-on-one consultations.
