Academic Staff Development

Line

What is it? The Curriculum Renewal Programme (CRP) aims to create a space where academic staff can redesign their modules by considering its purpose, our students, and the UFS context through sound curriculum design principles. The programme aligns with the UFS strategies and supports participants in designing learning-centred curricula that incorporate blended learning, graduate attributes, new technologies, and decolonisation.

Why is it important? In a fast-changing higher education environment, modules and programmes need to remain relevant and up to date with new technologies, graduate expectations, and discipline-specific knowledge and resources. All, while creating a learning experience where outcomes, assessments and activities are well-aligned.

How is it implemented? We present five units over five consecutive days in a face-to-face environment, OR we present these units online over five weeks, with one weekly online contact session. During the CRP, participants reflect on and plan for quality learning and teaching, improve (and receive individualised feedback on) their study guides, gain transferable skills applicable to other modules, learn how to enhance students’ learning experiences, share ideas and challenges with colleagues in a safe space, and become part of a learning community.
