What is it? Siyaphumelela is a national initiative funded by the Kresge foundation. More than 20 South African higher education institutions participate in this initiative, with unique projects and deliverables. The UFS has been part of Siyaphumelela for more than 10 years, boasting impactful projects such as the attendance study, the senior student experience, and the high-priority project.

Why is it important? Data-driven and evidence-based approaches to large-scale institutional initiatives underpin informed decision-making. By participating in this initiative, the UFS also has the opportunity to collaborate with and network with international scholars and to share ideas with our South African counterparts.

How is it implemented? At the UFS, projects are assigned to project leads, with biweekly meetings that connect all teams to share operational and strategic ideas.
