Learning Design in Higher Education (LDHE)
Short Learning Programme (SLP)

What is it? The Learning Design in HE (LDHE1505S) is a 10-week online short learning programme designed to develop the necessary skills and knowledge of Learning Designers in Higher Education.
Why is it important? This initiative empowers Learning Designers in Higher Education to create more effective, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences. It provides both practical and theoretical tools to strengthen their application of learning design principles across blended, online, and face-to-face contexts. The programme also fosters collaboration, reflective practice, and the integration of AI and emerging technologies into learning environments.
How is it implemented? We present the course entirely online over 10 weeks, and have structured it around four key units:
-
Unit 1: The Role of the Learning Designer
-
Unit 2: Learning Theories and Universal Design for Learning
-
Unit 3: Situational Factors, Aims, Outcomes, and Objectives
-
Unit 4: Assessments and Activities
The programme includes weekly live sessions with expert presenters, supported by a strong feedback mechanism, collaborative learning opportunities, and a balance between theory and practice. We use feedback from both participants and presenters to continuously refine and enhance the course.
