TED – Talent and Employability Development

Line

What is it? Talent and Employability Development, as a service within the Student Success focus area, supports students in developing the skills, knowledge, and attributes they need to succeed both academically and in the workplace. It creates opportunities, both in and outside the curriculum, to advance students towards becoming economically active citizens.

Why is it important? We anchor TED in three strategic pillars:

  • Pillar 1: To educate (curricular integration)
  • Pillar 2: To engage (a student pathway with integrated development)
  • Pillar 3: To create enterprise (or value creation)
How is it implemented? Overall, we implement continuous training, support, and career-focused activities throughout a student's journey.
These include:

  • Skills development: Students can participate in modules (curricular) and workshops (co-curricular) that build academic, digital, and career skills.
  • Scaling work readiness: We facilitate the scaling of work-integrated learning (WIL) while ensuring that graduate attributes and WIL are not part of a check-box exercise, but are truly taught, practised, and assessed.
  • Progressive support over time: Initiatives such as @SecureTheGrad, which increase students’ exposure to industry, directly influence commitment to their degree.
