New Academic Staff Orientation

Line

What is it? New Academic Staff Orientation Programme (NASO) is designed to support new academic staff during the first six months of their appointment at the UFS.

Why is it important? The NASO aims to welcome and integrate new academic staff into the UFS by clarifying expectations, assisting in creating networks and understanding the UFS culture, and promoting retention. The programme ensures that new academic staff are familiar with institutional policies, departmental culture, and the UFS strategic objectives, while establishing connections with leadership and fellow academics to support long-term success, engagement, and well-being.

How is it implemented? The programme is presented in three phases, which we deliver as follows:

  1. Welcoming new academic staff on entering the UFS.
  2. A formal two-day NASO programme.
  3. A five-month programme to support new academic staff.
