CPD ACTIVITIES

Welcome to the Research and Development Unit's (RAD) CPD web page!

The RAD unit is excited to introduce our first Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities for 2024. As we embark on this journey, we invite you to engage with our activities and us, in providing constructive feedback to enhance the relevance of our offerings.

About the RAD CPD webpage:

What is CPD? Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is vital to maintaining and enhancing professional competence, as regulated by the HPCSA. It ensures that practitioners stay up to date with the latest advancements, best practices, and ethical standards in their respective fields. To view the number of points you require within a 24-month period, please visit the HPCSA website

Our Commitment: We are dedicated to providing high-quality CPD activities that meet the needs of a wide range of professionals. Our current emphasis is on publishing article reviews, and we have exciting plans for expanding our offerings to cover an array of topics soon.

Your Input Matters: As this program is still in its development phase, we value your thoughts and suggestions. Feel free to share your feedback on the presentation, level of difficulty, or any other aspects by emailing us at RAD@ufs.ac.za.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to your feedback!

Adjusting ventilator settings according to ABG

  POCUS for Airway

CPD activity: Point-of-care ultrasound for airway management in the emergency and critical care setting.

This activity highlights POCUS techniques used for the assessment of an airway in predicting difficult intubations. These techniques then extend from pre-intubation checks toward confirming ETT placement. Guidance is provided to find the correct landmarks for a cricothyroidotomy and emphasises critical steps to follow for success. Overall, this activity provides clinically relevant information on using ultrasound as a prediction and guiding tool for successful airway management.
